Even more movies (from before)

I'm trying something.

Leon The Professional
The main bad-guy character in this movie reminds me of Willem Dafoe in Boondock Saints, but not as creepy as that character. Much more drugged out, especially for a DEA officer. This movie is about the best assassin in the business helping a little girl in his apartment complex whose family is gunned down by this bad guy (Gary Oldman). Not as gorey as one might think, this movie has its funny moments, and its downright disturbing ones. An interesting and well put-together story about a man and his houseplant. (And you'll have to see the movie in order to get that.)

Narnia
I was hoping that they would put out a production of the Magician's Nephew before the Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe, but that book is sometimes referred to as the last book in the series, a prequel to the rest, which explains the origin of how a connection to Narnia was made. Good graphics, but at parts, it was easy to tell that they were fake (if looking carefully). All-in-all, the movie was as imaginative as the book was, and I suggest reading the book as well as watching the movie in order to compare the two. Not just a children's movie, but more than Harry Potter, which seems to scare younger children. Haven't seen the newest movie yet, but I'm counting on going to see it. Scary-looking witch, and I suppose that's what they were going for, but the hair.... wow. Kind of ugly.

And that concludes the movies that I can think of seeing lately. No remember any more. Hopefully, I won't wait as long to post again as I did. Oh, on a totally different note, does anyone out there need a Co-op student for the summer? I need a Co-op for my environmental technician program this summer. Well, don't really need it as it is optional, but it would be a waste of $400 if I don't get one. The website for my program is at http://www.confederationc.on.ca/environmental/calendar/default.asp if anyone would like to peruse through and figure out the program I'm in. They even fixed it up all a-pretty-pretty yesterday. Well, back to stuff for me. I'll post later on, someday, if I find more stuff to talk about.

Oh yes, and Happy New Year's to you people! Hope you had a price-gouging good time at Christmas, and enjoyed the Boxing Day/Week grab-a-thon at the malls. Personally, I just bought a whole bunch of things on the 23rd, and now I don't have to step into the mall until around my boyfriend's birthday, unless my hampster needs food or something chewy.

Anyway, enough blabbering for me! I'm off!

I have no idea...

why my most recent post is not showing up on the blog.... Absolutely none. Technology sucks like that, doesn't it?

Another Movie, Among other things...

Diary of a Mad Black Woman

I have never heard of this movie before I went to the video store. I thought it would be funny, like the cover seems to suggest, and it was, for parts of it. It was more like a comedy/drama..... a funny chick-flick. Now, I normally don't watch chick-flicks, but this one was pretty good. It depicts a marriage fallen apart, a mentally abused woman and her insane grandma. Good fun, although there are some really sad elements in it.

Blade Runner

A sci-fi, cyberpunk flick filmed in the 80's (I'm pretty sure it was around then). Interesting story, but it was insane. Good for a philosophy class analysis. It opens with a retired "blade runner" (which they explain) forced to track down and kill renegade robots. Kind of cheesy graphics, but what would you expect from a cyberpunk in the 80's? So check it out, especially if you like Harrison Ford.

February is going to be brutal money-wise. Whoo. I have to pay for: the last deposit on last year's tuition, a GPS training course, a Benthic Biomonitoring training course, credit card payment, and payment on my student line of credit. At least after all that's done, I get to save up for tuition for next year, as well as make payments on my line of credit, so it doesn't look so bad. I'll figure it out somehow.

Working on my exercise "regimen", and I think I'm doing rather well so far. I just have to remember that I'm doing it for my boyfriend (just to get in better shape... not a losing weight thing), and/or a Co-op job in the summer, otherwise I would probably not exercise at all. I don't know what's with me... I just don't do anything when it's for me.

But enough of this for now. I'm off to bed or something. We'll see.
Good night.

Whoo

Waay too long since I've been on here. College does that to a person, I guess. Ergh, too many payments, not enough money to make them!

I had three jobs before Christmas holidays, and things were going pretty good, but then I bought way too much stuff, and haven't been working much at all at the other two jobs.

At least I'm not in University; I would be spending a hella lot more money there than I am now. Still, blah blah, expensive, books, tuition, etc. Whatever.

Anywhoo....

Been a bit behind with the movie-posting on here, so I will try to remember some that I've seen since the last post (no promises, however). Here goes:

King Kong
Now, I haven't seen the original movie yet, and I probably should before I review this movie, but I won't. It seemed to me that the proportion of the giant gorilla seemed to change throughout the movie, appearing smaller than originally thought in other scenes. I was kind of surprised, too, that Jack Black could perform decently in a more serious role than he is usually known for. Although he has a more serious role, there are some amusing bits in the storyline. Interesting graphics, and I don't know if anyone reading this has seen the original, but does it have dinosaurs in it? Seemed kind of odd to me, but it doesn't completely ruin the movie... the last line in the production does. *very corny*. But, still go see it, have some laughs, and throw things at the people with cell phones on.

Syriana
A very interesting movie, although it may be hard to tell what is going on at first, since it focuses on several different stories involving the main characters, and sort of connects them together during the end. Enjoyed it very much, and sympathized with the "Canadian" (aka, George Clooney), especially at the end. Kind of some gorey scenes, if you call pulling a guy's fingernails out of their rightful place gorey. Not really into that. Was that based on a true story or something like that? I can't remember. If you like the government and/or industry conspiracy kind of movies, then go see this one.

More movies to come VERY soon!
